Being a leader in industry and in our local community, it's important to give back. Over the years I've raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity. I don't share that to brag but to show my dedication to supporting a cause, local charity and the importance of giving back.

This ideal was installed in me in high school, as a cheerleader we not only raised money for our High School but also to support the local charities in the community. In university our Alpha Delta Pi Sorority supported the Ronald McDonald house with money, time and empathy. Spending time with families in RMH between visits to their loved ones, cooking and baking for the families going through difficult chapters.

Over the years as a local business owner, there have been many ways we've helped and raised funds for our local community. A team of local entrepreneurs worked with the Lymington Lions Club and raised funds through a town fete, parade and charity ball raising thousands of pounds to build the Woodside Pavilion Sports Club, the funds we raised were matched by England rugby.

I've run over 13 marathons around the world to raise funds for local, national and international charities such as Hammersley Homes, Get Kids Going, Look Good Feel Better, RNLI and other local children's and cancer charities within the local school and sailing fraternity. I share these activities as an example of ways to raise funds for a cause that you're passionate about.

The Orchids Retreat team volunteer at Look Good Feel Better skincare and makeup workshops each quarter. These workshops provide a step by step interactive demonstration to show women how to look after their skin whilst going through treatment and how to apply make up that enhances their natural features. The hoodie bags are worth over £200 and provided by many companies withing the beauty industry, volunteers host the workshops attended by LGFB volunteers around the world.

Every workshop offers an invaluable opportunity to talk to others in a similar situation, whilst helping support people with their changing appearance. People leave our workshops feeling empowered, motivated and less isolated – allowing them to look good, but feel even better. - LGFB UK

You can volunteer, raise funds and give back in many ways. This not only helps get more eyes on your business, builds a community spirit, it also helps you and your business become know to a wider local audience.

Reach out to charities in your community that you would like to work with. Nationally and locally you can offer a beauty recycling scheme that can be set up with your suppliers.

You can get involved in local events with schools, churches, and other committees. Offer prizes or contributions for raffles, gift vouchers to welcome people into your business. Offer to help out at events, summer fetes, Christmas fayres... there are so many opportunities to get involved.
