 This topic has come up a lot recently in conversations within our community. What is leadership and vision casting versus managing a team?

 

Team management is leading a group whilst Leaders that vision cast use their position to onboard their team with their vision, their brand values, and their company culture.

 

Vision casters focus on hitting the big targets, moving mountains with their ideas and shattering glass ceilings by motivating & inspiring their teams to help achieve wildly important goals.

Creating an ACTion plan for your business is important to achieve your goals and enable your team to hit their targets.

Teamwork is when a group of people work together collaboratively to achieve a common goal or objective. It involves individuals coming together and combining their skills, knowledge, and efforts to accomplish tasks efficiently and effectively. A strong team is importance to achieve a grand vision.

Teamwork is essential in many aspects of life, including the workplace, sports, education, and various group projects. Because we all have a capacity. There's only so much that we can do on our own then we need people to help us achieve our goals and we need to help them achieve their goals as well. 

With over 25 years experience working with people in a leadership role I’ve learned a lot of lessons about team management and vision casting. In high school I was cheer captain, at university, I was the UNLV Senator of Urban Affairs, Alpha Delta Pi (ADPi) sorority’s Philanthropy and Social Chairs, then in other life chapters I’ve had experience as a School Governor, Bar & Restaurant Manager, and multiple Business Owner.

All teams are different, but they all need scoreboards and cadence with key performance indicators to keep motivation high. Whether you are working with the beauty and wellbeing industry as a team of one and need to inspire and motivate yourself, working with a team to maintain enthusiasm we can help keep you accountable for what you want to achieve.

As CEOs you need to elevate and move into the leadership role of vision casting with a team leader in place who manages the team. This can be a hard transition for entrepreneurs, especially as we’ve often bootstrapped the business, but investing in strong management enables you to have the capacity to become the visionary.

A strong leader has a clear vision and can articulate goals and objectives for the team or organization.

Effective communication skills are essential for a leader to convey ideas, provide feedback, and inspire team members.

Effective teamwork can lead to increased productivity, improved problem-solving abilities, enhanced creativity, better communication, and a sense of camaraderie among team members. It is important for team members to communicate openly, respect each other's opinions, collaborate effectively, and support one another in order to achieve success as a team.

Whether you are managing a team of 1, 5, 10 or 20 people the key principles apply. I've worked with various sized businesses from solopreneurs to large team spa managers focussing the business KPIs to ensure the businesses develop self lead team members, with full columns, and excellent customer service. Remember there's no ‘I’ in teamwork and communication is essential for self lead strong teams.

Leaders with integrity are honest, ethical, and lead by example, earning the trust and respect of their team.

 

πŸ’« Empathy:

Demonstrating empathy and understanding towards team members fosters strong relationships and a positive work environment.

Hiring the person with the right personality and who gets on well with your team is essential to ensuring a harmonious work environment.

We interview potentials and have them come in and do a trial day, then we would ask our team what do you think? Because we're family, right? This is our team. This is our family. This is our unit. You have to work with these people every day. You're making work friends with them, your work family, it needs to be a harmonious place you enjoy being in and enables everyone to perform at their highest potential.

Strong leaders can navigate challenges and setbacks with resilience, maintaining a positive attitude and continue to motivate their team.

 

πŸ’« Decision-making:

Making sound and timely decisions is a crucial skill for a leader to guide the team towards success. This takes experience and education to make tough decisions quickly and confidently.

To be an expert in a treatment, you need to do at least 10,000 hours of your professional skill set… the same is needed for leadership and management skills. Anything in life that you want to excel at, you need to put in the time and hard work to achieve success.
